| Payment Processing (Information) |
The following is an opinion based on experience: Your customers should be able to pay with a credit card separately from Google and/or PayPal, and both Google and PayPal should be available to your customers as payment options.
If you are already accepting credit cards through your business, to begin with you can process online "credit card" orders by manually keying card numbers in (like a phone order). As your online business develops, and you are processing more than a handful of orders regularly, the process should be automated by having an online merchant account.
If you are not already accepting credit cards, an online merchant account should be acquired to begin with.
Having only Google and/or PayPal as payment options conveys less than legitimacy in an online store environment.
Online merchant account fees will generally add approximately $25 - $50 to your monthly overhead. More often than not there will also be an initial, one time applicaition / set-up fee of $75 - $100. And last but not least, there will be per order fees of .20 - .30 plus around .02% of each order's total. Figures vary depending on which Merchant Payment Processing company you choose to use.
Installing most Merchant Payment Processing company's payment module or code is included at no additional cost to you. The exception to this is if the company you choose does not provide support for their payment processing module or code (most companies do).
Based primarily on cost / fees (overall the least expensive), but also considering the services provided, we suggest using ECHO Inc., whose processing code we have already integrated into the eCommerce application. More information about their fees and services, and a fast track application, will be available here soon.

Credit Card
It is worth repeating; your customers should have a choice to purchase using a credit card separately from the Google and PayPal options because this adds to conveying legitimacy, and professionalism.

Electronic Check
Depending on the Merchant Payment Processing company selected, this can be another option. Your customer provides his or her Bank's routing and checking account number for payment.
